Imperial Palace Hotel, Miri

It's my first time here in this hotel. I've stayed at the old Imperial Hotel before. This one was supposed to be a newer establishment, much closer to my office that Marriott, where I usually stays. Thought since its only for a night, I can just try it out.

Check-in experience was good, not THAT fast but acceptable. I got my key, seems like 5th is the highest level from the elevator's punch list. The carpets was impressive on the way to the rooms. They look new and good. Ok... entered the room, it was freezingly cold! I took a few snaps of the room with my phone. Here goes....this may look big, but its a lot smaller than it looks on the picture. But for a single occupancy, I guess this Is adequate.

The toilet on the first impression looks new, but already there are signs of wear and tear. The bowl comes with a pipe for cleansing (not a bidet) purpose. This is good since I don't have to prepare water in glass to clean myself at the bowl. But the pipe leaked water when I used it. Without warning! Lucky I had only pushed open the faucet in slowly, otherwise I would have been wet!

The room service menu are very basic, and I found it left me wanting...so, I had to go down for more menu at their Restaurant. They don't have dessert in the room service menu and the menu's price is RM 1-2 more expensive compared to dine in. Most hotel I went to would not differ their dine in and room service menu and price.

When I returned to my room, it was freezing again. I had to hiked up the temperature and turn off the fan and I am still shivering underneath the thick blanket. So, I ordered hot chocolate to warm me up. Asked for cream on top - and they said they don't have cream. When the hot choco came, in a glass, no stirrer....so, don't know how I get the "sludge" out at the bottom of the mug.

Well, I haven't spend the night yet and already made up my mind not to come back unless if I really really have no choice .....
